A [Am] man came across this old tower one day,
It was [G] straight like from a book he once [C] read
He [Am] lifted his head up and saw this young lady
And [G] here's what the lady [E] said:
[Am] Moi je [G] m'appelle [Fmaj7] Mademoiselle Noir,
Et [Am] comme vous [G] pouvez le [F] voir
Je [G] ne [C] souris, ni [E] ris, ni [F] vis

The [Am] man was so scared, he could only run away.
He [G] ran to the town and then [C] said,
"I [Am] just saw a lady with the longest dark hair,
And I [G] think she's a living [E] dead."
The [Am] people, so scared, took their guns and their swords.
They [G] ran to the tower and [C] then
They [Am] saw the pale lady and felt the great fear
When they [G] heard how she said it [E] again:

The [Am] people, they knew what this all was about.
She was [G] clearly a demon from [C] hell.
They [Am] decided to set her long hair on fire,
In the [G] end it would burn her as [E] well.
But the [Am] lady was no demon, she was a lone soul,
Just [G] like in that book they once [C] read,
Still [Am] waiting for her prince while her hair was on fire,
The [G] one last time she [E] said:
